Unit 8 post
Ok I seriously think that karma has it out for me! I was almost caught up and then my mom had a stroke last week. She spent 3 days in the hospital and then came home for me to take care of. So I have spent the last few days running between my house and hers. She needs constant care as she has no strength and a non existent memory. I have set up her meds in a planner but she forgets to take them or where she put them. I got her a walker but she has fallen trying to raise the window in the living room. So now I have 2 children, my mom, 2 households, a dog, and a full time job on top of school. Something has to give! I am afraid that school is going to suffer as that is the easiest to walk away from. It is a shame too since I have been on the president honor role every term since I started. Oh well what else can I do. I am way too tired to keep trying to explain the mess that is my life, and at some point the instructors are going to think I am making it all up. Funny all I wanted was to get my degree so I could work a second job without having to leave my children. Now it looks like I will be moving in with my mom and taking care of her in the evenings after my regular job. Guess my kids still get the shaft and no extra money now.

Unit 7 post
Hello everyone! I have fallen so far behind I don't know if I can recover. The meningitis outbreak has taken a toll and then regular family issues didn't help out either. I am going to work all weekend trying to take exams and seminar option 2 responses. I still need to finish up my draft but I am having trouble letting go of it. I hate the idea of someone else reading what little I have so far. I know that the feedback will be helpful, but I don't like people seeing my scrambled thoughts. I must admit the research has been very helpful for me and my son. I have learned even more about ADHD/ODD. I have also read a lot of stories by other single mothers that struggle with the same things I do. It has been nice to learn that I am not alone in my struggle for some normalcy. I only hope that by reading my paper others can learn about the day to day storm that is ADHD/ODD.

Week 6 post!
This has been a very stressful week. The little town just to the west of us has had a bacterial meningitis outbreak. Two children have died and another 5 are hospitalized. I have spent the week helping the health department quarantine and give prophylaxis medication to all of the elementary children. The parents were going crazy trying to take all the children out of school without being examined for symptoms. We had a press conference and town meeting to try and calm some of the craziness but I don't know how much it helped. The Primary care offices have been over run with possible exposure cases. The ER is being over run with frantic parents that can't get their kids seen in the office. I understand that it is scary but we tried to help and they yanked the kids out of school away from our resources. I am afraid I am not getting much homework done. I am going to have to work my behind off all weekend just to try and catch up. Pray for our little children and a complete recovery for those that are sick.

Welcome to my Unit 5 blog posting!
I am so frustrated and confused. My eight year old son is driving me right over the edge. It is like living with a tornado that refuses to go away. I really have no idea where he gets all the energy. By the time he passes out at night I am exhausted and completely numb. I often wonder how I am going to make it through the next day. The only thing that keeps me from strangling him in his sleep, is that angelic smile on his face while he sleeps. However; I know that he is just dreaming up new ways to push buttons and run rampant. Does anyone else out there understand? Does anyone out there care? It is hard being a single parent, but even harder when one of them is the spawn of the devil himself. At least he makes for a good research topic. I think it will be therapeutic to write about some of the troubles I face everyday.
